At The Blind Factory, we understand that home is where memories are made—and we were truly honoured to be part of Space Invaders’ beautiful and meaningful transformation journey for 77-year-old Dianne.
Meet Dianne & Sonia
For 77-year-old grandmother Dianne, celebrating family occasions has always been her greatest joy. Over the years, her love for decorating every special moment grew into a massive collection—so massive, in fact, that it took over her home. With more than 500 boxes of decorations, Dianne could no longer welcome visitors, leaving her feeling lonely and her daughter Sonia desperate to help.
The Space Invaders team stepped in with empathy and expertise to help Dianne reconnect with her family and reclaim her home. The Blind Factory was proud to put the finishing touch on the transformation with custom blinds and curtains that brought warmth, light, and liveability back to her space.
The Transformation
Dianne’s decorations weren’t just clutter—they were tied to treasured memories. Letting go was never going to be easy. But with her home no longer safe or functional, change was essential.
The Space Invaders team embraced the challenge with compassion:
✔ Peter Walsh worked alongside guest declutterer Rachel Carr from The Block to gently reduce Dianne’s collection.
✔ Cherie Barber took on one of her biggest renovations yet, transforming the home into a welcoming haven.
✔ Angie Kent uncovered the story behind a precious family heirloom, deepening the emotional journey.
